Policy of HABC

HABC Policy and information

The Hellenic-Australian Business Council (HABC) has been established to facilitate dialogue and support initiatives to promote trade and investment between Australia and Greece.

The HABC is the first organisation established in Greece to provide an effective platform and network for Greek and Australian companies, business and industry groups and other organisations, to have regular exchanges on trade and investment issues and forge stronger business and institutional links between Australia and Greece. HABC activities include business forums, provision of information, business matching events, two-way business delegations and cultural and other events showcasing Australia and Greece.

HABC is a not-for-profit organisation registered in Greece as an association. It is a non-governmental, non-political association governed by a Board of Directors elected by Members. Corporate membership and event sponsorship is the sole source of funding for the Business Council.

HABC members include businesses engaged or interested in trade and investment between Australia, Greece and the broader region in sectors such as shipping, energy and resources, infrastructure, construction, tourism, defence systems, pharmaceuticals, food and others.

HABC offers its members the following services:

  • Participation in events: Business seminars, conferences, business missions, corporate forums, luncheons, receptions, roundtables and other functions
  • Business Networking
  • Trade/Investment Support
  • Media: Website, press releases, newsletter, multimedia
  • Identification of opportunities: Trade and investment in both countries
  • Market/sector information on both Greece and Australia
  • On-the-ground support, through partnerships/allies in both Australia and Greece

The HABC Secretariat is located in Athens, with branches in Thessaloniki and Irakleion.

"The HABC is supported by the Australian Embassy in Athens and the Greek Embassy and Consulates in Australia. It cooperates closely with Hellenic-Australian chambers of commerce and industry in Australia, and other business and industry associations in Australia and Greece".

The HABC Board of Directors was elected in September 2012 for 12 months and is charged with attracting new membership for the HABC.

We would be delighted if you and your organisation would support the HABC by becoming a member or participating in its activities. In particular, if you are planning travel to Greece, we would be very pleased to meet you and to facilitate contact with HABC members.

The President
Michalis Bodouroglou
